We Were Only Children When The Bombs Came

He was dead,

Heavy like lead,

We were only children when the bombs came.

Rubble lay everywhere,

Giving the living a scare,

We were only children when the bombs came.

The air smelled like smoke,

The last time he spoke,

We were only children when the bombs came.

It was so quiet,

You couldn’t hear anything,

We were only children when the bombs came.

Now I walk alone,

Down the streets that were once known,

We were only children when the bombs came.
