We Witches of Word

We poets are a modern incarnation of the witch.

An Archetype as old as time, a woman outcast

in society, we turn to our own power to make

change

Change in what we see and how we feel and

The interactions we have. We are resourceful

like that old crown tying together bits of string

and grass to fashion a dolly of her enemy, going in

for the kill.

But our kill is more elegant, less bloody.

We weave together silver strands of ether

Flowing from our mouths like mercury

Like light, and sometimes dark

Like Joy, and sometimes pain

Like Courage, and yet sometimes

These words contain all our fear

We shake continents and  shape minds

through a pen on page, scratching out

Incantations of our own brewing.

We witches of word come marching

We come to claim our world

We come to shape it for the better

We come with a voice to incite

Change
