Weakness Within a Storm

I dread the rainy days.

For they hold nothing but sore memories.

As I watch the rain fall, my life suddenly stops, the pain seems to hold me still, and my ears begin to hear nothing but what I thought was an ordinary argument between us.

My mind seems to replay it over and over again until my heart begins to ache and it is at that very moment where I am then reminded of that day.  It’s as if I, yet again, find myself starring up at the stormy sky blending my tears with raindrops as I found out you were gone for good. There was no time to say sorry, to say goodbye, to give you another hug, or to hear your voice one last time.  There was no warning.  There was no getting in the way of fate. But one thing I carry with me each and every day is my choice of last words to you.  I will never forgive myself.  I will never stop wishing I could do our last night all over again.

But then, what has felt like a never-ending nightmare, ends, and I come to realize that the storm has passed and the feeling of guilt no longer resides within myself.

As I then return to reality, the voices of many tell me to let it go, that what is done should be forgotten, and to have high hopes for what tomorrow could bring.  Unfortunately, what those don’t understand is that it is easier said than done to do so.

For it only takes the sight of water falling from the sky to take me back to a time I much rather forget.

As the sky then begins to clear and I walk away from my windowpane, I try to be strong for I only have until the next storm until I become weak once again.
