Weary

Muddy, wet Waders are stripped From him, peeled off Like a second Skin. Bloodshot eyes stare. Beyond the faded white Wraparound porch, It is raining on the Wye. He rises slowly. Coffee and sleep Carry him inside Before the river calls Once more. He always returns When she calls.
