"Weary Traveler"
I
The lonely sky casts doubt upon the heart
As the storm clouds roll by the soul is heavy laden.
The spirit crushed like a bunch of bones
Weighed down by the burdens of the world
Decimated, crucified, no breath left.
II
Suffocated under a vestige of abandon hope,
A soul searches for the will to tread onward.
All he finds is dreams that have faded into the past
Never to be chased after again.
He becomes a recluse, living away from the “haves” of society
For he feels as if he is a “have not.”
III
On bended knee he says a silent offering to the Lord above
Wondering if its potency is strong enough to rapture the heavens
As it trembles and roars every time a storm rolls around.
A voice whispers to him “The Lord hears the prayers of those who need him most.”
He contemplates the magnitude of these words, and finds them to be true.
His faith in humanity is restored, his burdens are easy.
IV
Head lifted high,
He journeys toward the light which illuminates the darkness.
There is now a fortress of hope at the end of the bleakest tunnel
That acts as a beacon of comfort to those who are lost.
The man approaches the luminous rays and he is renewed,
No longer questioning his fate for has found the answer.
V
On a desolate road to nowhere he became lost
In the deepest depths of the loneliest tunnel he was discovered by God.
The profundity of the moment were sight was restored is one he will never forget.
On a dead end street he found himself,
And on the street he realized he had purpose.
VI
His worries are light and his spirit unfastened and soaring free.
He inhales the breath of a new life, and his destiny is found.
He knows who he is, because the Jesus Christ lives in him
He has found his way on this weary voyage known as life.
His only hope is that he be missionary to change the lives of others
Like Christ did for him.
