Web of Lies
It’s growing.
Can’t you see it?
Because I can.
I am no fool.
I am no innocent passerby.
I know the truth.
With each sentence uttered,
It grows.
It started out small.
Oh, wait, no it didn’t.
It started off with a bang.
It catches every passerby.
Each innocent, and unsuspecting,
In one way or another.
But I know better.
That’s why you make sure to please me.
To keep me happy.
To make sure that I either get trapped,
Like the rest of them,
Or, keep it hidden.
I will keep it hidden,
For as long as it benefits me.
For you have taught me well,
The apple never does fall far from the tree.
You get angry,
When I do not participate.
When I refuse to build my own.
What you don’t know is,
I have my own.
But mine does not harm.
It only keeps my tendencies hidden.
I will stay loyal,
To those who make these things.
Only if they do not harm.
And yours does.
I will keep your secret,
For as long as you keep me satisfied.
The moment it starts to harm the innocents,
Or the innocents figure it out for themselves,
I will cut it down,
Your web of lies.
And expose just how spider-like,
You really are.
