Wedding Song

Love can sneak up on you like something you did not expect,

A person you just met can become a beating heart you yearn to protect.

In this case it happened on a seemingly normal fall day,

Little did they know that they would be swept away.

Love can grow with many different things pushing it along,

Little did they know that it was being pushed by just one song.

He held onto his bass and she would strike the keys,

Not knowing they were playing the notes of peace and harmony.

But after that day when it was time to move on,

You had to wonder if love would go right along.

A summer filled with distance being miles apart,

But letters written and weekends together was this love’s spark.

Then came the times of softball games and movie going,

Still somewhat unaware of just how much this love was growing.

And then the distance went away and they were together once more,

And on that late July night the love could no longer be ignored.

He admitted his love for her and she shared the same emotion,

Sparks flying in the sky from both their heart’s commotion.

And then came the choice to go hand and hand,

Together with each other at last this woman and man.

Then separated by distance once again,

But the calls and visits made the love stronger than it’s ever been.

Then came ups and downs caused by being separated by miles,

But they made it through all those tests and all those trials.

And when that distance went away again this time,

They knew where they were headed just looking in each other’s eyes.

And it all came true on that cold January day,

He got down on a knee and she said yes as love carried them away.

And now here on this day the journey writes another line,

As the I do’s will be spoken another moment of love frozen in time.
