The Weight of Feathers
To anyone who's ever felt invisible: I see you, you matter. Help show someone else they matter.
If a tree falls in a forest & no one hears it
Does it still make sound?
If a cannonball shatters the earth but no one feels it
Is it nothing more than fragments on the ground?
If a blossom withers away and no one has seen its beauty
Was it ever beautiful at all?
If a fruit grows on a bountiful tree
Will anyone miss it if it falls?
I am not a motorcycle or airplane
Passing by in loud fervor
I am not a heavy dumbbell
Falling and instigating tremors
I am not the sunset
Stealing shallow breaths with my beauty
I am the dewdrops resting on blades of grass in the misty morning
I am the breeze leaving tentative touches with wispy fingers
I am the shooting star streaming brilliantly in the dead of night, granting a child's silent wish
I am the oxygen flowing through living creatures & sustaining life
I am the weight of feathers
Floating, Drifting, I am Untethered
Not heard, nor felt, nor seen, nor noticed,
But craved, wanted, needed nonetheless
I am the simple beauty in things taken for granted
They say one person can not change the world
I say if an average person does a single kind act daily, they will 28,835 lives in their lifetime
A tiny drop rippling in a pond, my effect is not immediately noticed
But it reverberates deep within the souls of many
Like all things gold I will fade too quickly
But I shall be happy, for I have made a difference.
