Weight of hair
"You'd look better if you cut your hair"
The phrase that spills out of every tounge, the dagger to the heart, what do they know about me? And where would I even start?
Since girlhood my locks have touched the floor, "So precious," said the witch that guards me, "Don't listen to what they say,"
But I do listen, and though they are prententious, my ear heeds them. Am I ugly? Will this behoove me? Should I cut my golden locks? Will this soothe me?
Yet I must wait for my prince, he will know the solution. Only he can tell me what's beautiful, say the witch. He is my resolution.
And on the morrow of my eighteenth birthday, the dawn rose so high, it was there I saw him, I thought I might cry. He rode on his mighty white stallion, with passion and courage, I leaped to the mirror to tidy myself up, I wouldn't discourage. As he approached my mother witch, she let him pass, she would not ruin my chances, she would be a good lass.
His voice bellowed, in a charming and clear way, "Dear maiden what is your name? Will you let down your locks? What'd say?"
I was overjoyed, so infatuated, I cried, " I am Rapunzel, and your are my prince, so long I have waited." I lowered my hair to him, he gave a few tug, then he climbed the tower to reach me, moving like a slug.
"Is everything ok?" I asked
" It's fine," he said
As he finally descended and climbed into the window, he looked as rich as wine.
I wanted to kiss him, or be swept of my feet, this was the moment, no more defeat
Yet he studied me, as if I were a gold plate, he sighed, " I think you should maybe loose some weight."
What? He was only supposed to study my hair. Tell me to cut it or leave it. Yet he left me with despair.
Infurated, I couldn't believe my ears, he was a jerk, this was worse then what I feared.
I was so angry! I didn't understand. Suddenly I blacked out. When I awoke, there was blood on my hands.
My scissors were my weapon, his blood soaked the floor, his eyes were glassy. Unlike before.
So there's your story office. For the last time that's all I know. He is dead, yet I am a stronger person though.
