Welcome Home

Brightly colored shapes scatter through the yard

Announcing someone’s special day

There are several inside, brightening the wooden room

A few outdoors, to boast to the world

Of a small little girl’s arrival

Into her new world of America.

Cakes and small packages wait

With pink and yellow ribbons swinging freely;

This little girl would smile, from all the cuddles and laughter

The smooching, the bouncing, and overwhelming happiness

Of the wonderful miracle of adoption.
