Welcome to Kindergarten
Many of your “firsts” happen here,
And hopefully without a tear.
You use markers each and every day,
But your favorite part will be to play.
You learn to tie your shoes,
And to count by twos.
You’ll learn your colors and your alphabet too,
You’re bound to come home covered in glue.
You’ll write your first sentence and make new friends,
You won’t be able to wait to go back again.
You’ll learn so much and won’t even know it,
You’ll have so much fun you have to show it.
Your favorite carpet square will always be there,
Even when you learn how to share.
At the end of the year you’ll pack your stuff,
And try not to cry so you seem tough.
You’ll hug your teacher good bye,
But don’t worry the summer will fly by.
Before you know it summer will be done,
And you’ll start learning all over this time in grade one.
