Welcome to Me

Chocolate eyes encompass so much more than an overlying sweetness
They shield a world no sane human has yet dared to explore
These eyes hide my pain, my joy, my dreams, and my weakness
And they keep me protected, locked away inside, like a heavy metal door

Comfy sweater sleeves hide old forgotten battle scars
But the irony is, is that I have never gone to war
I have prayed for these blemishes to go away, but there they are
And even though they have healed the pain hasn't gone away in my core

The melodious sound that spills from my mouth is nothing more than a ruse
I have deceived you like a musical magician in her fog and shadow
And everything here on Earth is so hellish the stars are my only muse
And music is the only thing that runs this train wreck of a fresh show

You think I am wearing flowers in my hair because I anxiously await spring
You have never been more gravely mistaken
I wear them because I am in mourning for my stolen diamond wings
The ones I used to elevate myself above this prison again and again

So behind this smile, just know that I am endlessly grieving
And that my heart has been shattered like shards of broken glass
And I do not think that I will ever stop believing
This this world is just a useless void of black mass
