Wendy

what is there to say about Wendy Shifrin?
everything. and nothing.
Wendy was one of the biggest reasons i loved going to class.
little lady, big heart. little lady, big love. little lady, big life

one day we learned about dying art.
dying people creating art.
cancer patients creating dances about their lives.
was this really dying art?
was she, her delicate 63 year old life held in the hands of cancer... was she a dying art?
she was dying. she was art. but living too, in every mind she touched and every dance she danced.

photos of corpses.
dances of the sick.
Wendy was a dance of the sick.
but a dance of the sick musn't be sad.
she embraced her dance, and ignored the sickness. she refused to let it take over.

my last correspondence with Wendy was an email.
i wished her well just a few weeks before she died.
the response came within a day, responsive as always.
she replied simply, with gratification and love.

Love, Wendy

Love Wendy

love Wendy.

the thing i could not live without. the love of Wendy. the spirit of Wendy.

Love Wendy.
