We're Only Awake When we are Dreaming
They say we are alive when our eyes are open,
Only a few know dreams are the curtains to existing life,
We do not talk about our depths knowing that they might frighten,
Some of us are crazy in our minds,
We know other ways to portray our skeptical illusions,
We show our true feelings in ways that are forbidden.
When we dream we hear the two headed birds call,
The ocean caresses the shore in a soft hum,
Each spiral curls as the waves come crashing onto one another,
The imaginative soul inside us makes us aware,
Of the real life we are to unfold not on earth but in a dimension elsewhere.
When we dream we touch the hands of creatures we have yet to discover,
We gently run our hands on top of the delicate bones of the beautiful creations,
We brush our cheeks against the unaccepted breaths unknown to the close minded,
The way we connect with these forms is how we truly see our lover.
When we dream we illustrate images of each tired tick of the clock,
We see the wanted in a place where no one else can interfere,
We see each minute melt as the day proceeds,
The golden clock turns into fluid,
We step into the deconstruction,
Leaving our secrets as footprints in the sidewalk.
When we dream we taste the heat of the sun in our mouths after eating it for breakfast,
We see it explode as our natural forks break it down like scrambled eggs in an iron skillet,
Only we feel the trill on our tongues for we are the ones who have progressed before the others.
When we dream we smell the fiery breath of the teal scaled dragon,
It smells not like burning wood,
But like chamomile being brewed for hot tea,
We smell its shiny scales and it reminds us of the sea,
Then we treat it like our pet as it rides around in our broken down wagon.
Each day we enter a different dimension,
We explore new topics,
One for each feeling we have,
No one understands us but us,
At least for now,
Maybe many decades later they will see what we saw before them,
They say we are awake when our eyes are open,
Only a few know dreams are the curtains to existing life.
