Wetback

Wetback Such a setback, The color of our skin, Blanketing our bodies automatically with sin. We are paying, but for what? For you cost doesn’t matter You’ve never seen the world From a step down the social ladder. Where in the Bible Does it tell you you’re better? We are all children of God, No need for red letters. Take a look in the mirror At our caramel colored skin You won’t see any dirt Only the beauty within You call us wetbacks Only wet from hard labor Working hard for what we have And still going un-favored What about my grandfather Dark skin and calloused hands Taught me to drive a tractor And was the manliest of man A member of his family who never went without They called him names tried to fill him with doubt A man with motivation, something many lack What’d they call him? A God-damned Wetback.
