WFOLRATWHLESS
WFOLRATWHLESS
I’m a girl in a dress,
And, yeah sure, I’m a mess.
Just because I appear to care less
About how I dress
And what my stomach digests;
Does that really make me worth less?
But before you commence,
Please let me digress,
And talk about your discontents.
There’s a thing that you do,
And trust me I know because I did it too.
You Google the words,
The words that bring shame to the reflection you see in the mirror,
The words that make all your imperfections seem a billion times clearer.
Those that tell you,”you need to be thinner”
Just because you are a little bit bigger
Than that beautiful girl
That pops up when you Google the words.
The size 0 girl,
That girl that has light skin, blue eyes, thing thighs,
And straight hair that you can’t even begin to compare
Then, mouth open, you scream “NO FAIR”
Until you run out of air.
Now what?
You start your low fat diet,
Telling your grumbling stomach to be quiet,
Ignoring the internal riot.
All meanwhile you feel that kick in the gut,
And you keep on going
Thinking that soon enough you will be glowing
As bright as the LCD screen that you saw that picture in.
Hoping that soon enough you and that girl will be identical twins,
You’re Losing yourself in the process of getting one artificial win.
It might as well be the original sin.
By not being yourself,
You’re not loving yourself.
Well, now that you know
It’s time to stop that turbulent flow.
Please, no more hate just because you just ate.
Yes, it will be hard –it’s not a piece of cake-,
But trust me I know because I did it too.
Here’s a thing that you can do:
Scream, scream at the top of your lungs
BITCH I’M FLAWLESS
Who is the bitch?
The size 0 girl?
What did she ever do?
She probably doesn’t even have a clue
What she’s doing to you.
Who is the bitch?
Society?
What did it ever do?
It just tried to make beauty,
A complex and convoluted human phenomenon,
As simple as a stupid emoticon.
Society is barking at one tree.
All meanwhile denying the grandiosity
Of human diversity.
Society is barking out freely
About its supposed theory
That you are only pretty if you’re skinny.
Well, if you ask me that’s pretty silly,
And dare I say, society is pretty bitchy.
I’m a girl in a dress,
And I am a mess.
I have no regrets
Because I don’t need to impress.
I don’t need to go to great extents
Just to prove that I am not worthless,
And if this isn’t already commonsense:
Perfection isn’t something I possess,
But I am FLAWLESS.
(In a sense)
