What Is?

How would I perceive this world If I were you? And you were me? Would I be you, if born to your parents, born with your face? Would I think your thoughts, with your mind, inside your body? Or am I fundamentally me, no matter what name I inherited? I cannot truly believe either way. Perhaps I would be you, being raised as you were. Or perhaps I would be me, with my mind holding my essence. What is the essence of me? Am I just a personification of the ideals I've been taught to cherish? Maybe we aren't special, aren't the individuals we prize. Perhaps we fear this truth And hold steadfastly to our individualism Grasping for disparities Due to our copious amounts of self righteousness.
