What am I

Society trying

to mislead me

Make me something

I’m not

Or are they

Trying to rip

The veil

In front

of my

blind eyes

To reveal

What I have yet

To see

Being me.

Singers these days

Are talking about

Being perfect

Or being full

Of flaws

How contradicting

Miley says

Nobody’s perfect

But Beyoncé

Tells me

I wake up

Flawless

So which is

It.

What does

It even mean

To be

“Flawless”

Is their guidelines

To be

Flawless

What if I

See

Me

As Flawless

But to

Everybody else

I am

Anything but.

Do I even

Know me

How do I know

Am I this flawed

Imperfect being

Or am I

making up

Flaws that can’t

Be seen

So which is it

And who decides

Am I

Flawed

Or

Flawless
