What Am I Today,I

What Am I Today,
I am jealous.
jealous of the mother/daughter pictures,
of them being able to make someone breakfast this morning.

What am I today,
I am angry,
angry that you thought it would be okay to leave us,
that you thought it would be easy to survive without you.

What am I today,
I am tired,
tired of the dreams that make me believe you are still here,
tired of being scared to visit your final resting place.

What am I today,
I am tearful,
tearful because my children won’t be able to meet you,
because I miss you.

What am I today,
I am a little more peaceful.
Peaceful because you’re no longer hurting,
that you are no longer weary.

What am I today,
I am honored.
honored because I got the chance to know you,
that I got to live with you,
that I had someone that was there for me,
someone who fed me.
I am honored because you gave me a better life,
you loved me.
I am honored because I had the chance to be your daughter,
and you chose to be my mother.
