What Brings the Dull of June?

If April showers bring May flowers,

What brings the dull of June?

And crunchy leaves in Autumn fall, 

Cold wind from wet monsoon?

Does sadness in the summer come,

From sundog’s shining rays?

Or joy in spring’s green blades of grass, 

From stormy rain teemed days?  

Do long and dreary spells of cold,

Enchant first flakes of snow?

And soulful melancholia,

From merry season’s glow?

As spring climbs through the dismal sky,

Beauty comes from darkest hours,

With winter’s cold and biting cry,

Tears drop to May’s fallen flowers.
