What Burns Inside
Anger, Is the fire that burns your insides.
The instant flare that you get
when you think or look a someone
who has broken your heart.
The sadness that you can’t find
a reason for but you know it is there.
Anger, stays even when there’s laughter.
Every strike of laugher chips away at the anger
but then the laughter dies away and
the anger is still strong.
Stinging your heart, like a whip on a slave’s back.
The whipmaster yelling try harder
you’re failing to do what he asked
the whip comes down harder.
He laughs at your misery.
You’re wishing you were somewhere else
anywhere else out of the whips reach, but
you know you’re not getting there soon enough.
Anger, stays until night then leaves.
It might just stay many nights more
until you bore him with your sadness
or don’t give the right reaction anymore.
Anger, waits for the perfect meal,
Like an ally cat waiting outside a restaurant
for its next meal, flicking it’s tail
with every flick of its tail it hurts
it keep flicking it's tail waiting until your heart breaks
thinking it will be funny to see you fall.
Anger is the only thing that will say
you’re still human and you are alive.
