What Ceases to Function

Nature.

It surrouds us.

With its leaves,

soft petals,

and twisting vines

it produces a never-ending

beauty.

It helps us

relax.

It helps us

grow.

It helps us

breathe.

It helps us

live.

It helps us because,

we are gears

that are part of a grand machine.

If a gear is

broken,

missing,

or worse

the machine creases to function.

We ignore this fact.

We grind the gears

until the teeth are nubs.

We want to be the

fastest,

and biggest,

but the other gears

get in our way.

Thats okay,

once the othe gears have

worn down

the grand machine will

cease to function anyway.

Though, I don't want to be

another grinding gear.

I want to spin in harmony.

Preserve.

I want the grand machine to

continue to give life

like the life it has

given me.

I want to help the other gears

that have helped me

breathe.
