What Did It Mean When You Said Hello?

What Did It Mean When You Said Hello?

Nothing. It’s just a way for us to greet.

A hey or hi would serve the same purpose.

You mean nothing to me and that is all.

Everything. I was really looking in your eyes

And telling you I love you in a way that you

Could understand, plain and clear. Crystal and see-through.

You need to know, you are the very air I breathe.

Nothing you are as important to me

As the cold, dusty dirt beneath my feet

And were you any other stranger on the earth

I would treat you the same as I have done today

You are like glass and when I look at you

It’s like looking through a mundane and ordinary object

Everything. To be away from you is to be near to death

And dying has never been so bitter as it is to me today.

At first glimpse of you I was revived and made anew.

I love you so dearly that had you a single ailment

It would dissolve and mean nothing to me.

You are my beginning and my end and when I look at

You it’s like staring in the eyes of the world

And I am not overwhelmed.

Nothing. You are the stranger and

I do not wish to know you.

I say hello out of courtesy.

Everything. I was trying to profess my love and

Just fell short. To love you is to be complete.

And when I’m around you I am so nervous that

The only word I dare utter is hello.

Hello because you are my love

And to be around you is to live.
