What Do I Know?
It feels like yesterday that I was riding in my little red wagon, nap time soon
All I knew was that I was loved and safe and that the sky was so beautifully
Blue.
Until I asked why it was and how it became and my questions turned into pleas
The Whys took over until I didn’t ask questions and I lived in solitude
Afraid of what the answers might be.
Soon I allowed the safe Hows out of my cave
Molded, softened until they dissolved in the ebbing sea of Know
Ever growing in and stretching the confines of my brain.
One day a rogue How escaped the darkness
Whirling, twirling with the force of my might I sought to tame it
But its core was harder than anything I knew; I knew this.
What it is in its essence, I cannot define
But as I wrestled, admired, pondered, the sea of Know receded
Only a few drops clinging to the How left behind.
My brain is now refuge to all Hows and Whys, old and new
Its bounds expand every day but the Know is constant
I may not know much but what I do is Truth.
