What Do I Live For?

When asked what I can’t live without it makes me wonder,

What do I live for?

What makes life worth living?

It’s not the music I spend hours listening to,

It’s not some dream boat from the latest chick flick,

It’s the idea that everyone I meet has a speck of kindness and beauty.

Everyone has beauty within them,

And the kindness to brighten a person’s day.

I live for finding that beauty and kindness.

Some wear them on their sleeve for all to see

While others make you really look for it.

It’s not just an outlook, it is a game.

It’s like finding Waldo when you meet a new person.

You skim them over and just can’t find that red and white

You can find a shoe

Or a canteen

But can’t put your finger on where he is.

While on your search for Waldo

You can stop and enjoy the page.

Enjoy the chaos and how intricate the person can be

After skimming and thinking it’s impossible to find,

You stop.

You stop skimming and threatening to give up.

You look deeper than the thin paper pages.

You go section by section,

Truly understanding and enjoying each part.

Finally, you find it!

After looking at the page it was so obvious to see the beauty,

And the kindness dressed in red and white is so hard to miss.

You laugh and wonder how you missed it before.

I couldn’t live without this outlook.

Without it life would be

Dark

Lonely

And what’s the fun if you only see the worst in people?

As some people live to tear others down,

I’ll look for the beauty and the kindness.

I can’t live without this simple outlook,

Because without it would life be worth living?

Next time you see someone,

Stop and open their book.

Sit down,

look at the pages.

You might find beautiful surprises dressed in red and white.
