What do I want to be?

“I want to be an engineer,” he said

“I want to be a veterinarian,” she voiced

“I want to be a fireman,” he exclained

“What do you want to be?”

What do I say?

How should I answer?

What will the others think?

Do I really want to be that?

Or do I want to be something else?

I didn’t know then but I do know now

I want to do something magical

Something spectacular and inspiring

Full of action and suspense

I want to be a hero

I want to go on a journey

To learn and better myself

I want to live in a world where the impossible is possible

I want to change the past and design the future

What job can do all this?

A lawyer?

A movie star?

Maybe a police officer?

Good guesses but incorrect

A writer is what I’m going to be

An author, a screenwriter, a poet

Just a few of the many hats I will wear

Writing is my passion

Writing is my dream
