What do you see when you see me?-No Filter Slam

I’m pretty, but I’m not beautiful I sin, but don’t call me the devil I believe there is good in people, but I’m not an angel Who are you? A question so simple But so vague Who are you? What do you see when you see me? Without the make up Without the hair extensions Without the guard up I’m not so plain and simple More complicated and a little unstable Nine fingers instead of ten But don’t call me a handicap The most unique things are mistaken for flaws So why focus on the 100 reasons to cry When there are a 1000 more to smile I’ve learned to succeed and think wisely not care free So many fake people in this real world we see I fear the future I strive for success Life is a never ending test I want the all right things All at once Planning my life is stressful enough Falling and getting back up is a force of habit Cuts and Bruises on way to the top There is a part of me that doesn’t want to stop I’m nobody Who wants to be somebody When everybody least expects it I laugh and I cry As I enjoy the moments that I can Because in this moment I don’t exist I’m naked In a fully clothed world I wonder what clothes will eventually fit me I’m a beautiful black woman Who craves identity Who I am? What do I see when I see me? Without the filter? Without the edits? Without pretending? If I could describe myself in one word It would be never-ending.
