What Do You Stand For?

Supportfullness. Respect. Kindness. Compassion. Morality

These things we once held up as the reason for humanities greatness.

Notice I used “once” in that sentence, cause’ truthfully al we are now is a great mess.

How can we call ourselves “great” when there are children begging on the side of the road, begging for pennies from people who wave them aside as peasants?

Seniors abandoned in homes with no hot water or earnings for all their hard work or veterans on the side of the street cold and starving, ignored by everyone, saying the reason for their pain is lack of common sense.

What happened to the race of morality?

What happened to the people who could look past a person's salary?

Since when did the race of helping others, suddenly become the capital of people beating their wives and mothers?

When did our ideals of a mother with no income receiving help from her fellow citizens

Become a relm of people looking at her and deciding the best option as “minding their own businesses”?

When did the WE in we the people suddenly become I?

When did the idea for help of our fellow man become a lie?

Yes, all of this lack of morality happens in the U.S. a lot.

However, the U.S. is not the only place this battle is fought.

All you other countries shaking your head in shame at our awful actions

Have no right to have those reactions.

Tell me how there are still countries without healthy water

begging for drops from unhealthy wells while you all still sit drinking happily watching their slaughter?

Tell me how 150,000 people can die in one day,

yet all we see on the media is “how to get your summer body ready today?”

You can’t sit back and look at the U.S. as the only ones who are savage.
When your actions and ignorances hold just as much immoral baggage.

No. This is not just a one country issue. The is a global moral elimination.

A genocide of our once beloved human moral foundation!

What do you stand for?

As a person of the future generation I ask all these questions. Yet, all I recieve are “keep your head down, be quiet, and other oblivious suggestions.

I bring up my concerns with the level of our future generations moralities,

And am hit back with bastards asking how this affects them, and more importantly their salaries.

I stare at them, dumbfounded with their own stupidity,

The answer to their own question is within their own deniability.

Everyday within my own family and their actions I want to cry.

As I watch my own mother look at a man on the curb, say he’s faking his pain, then drive by.

My tears hit the floor, my heart breaking at the sight of my younger sister agreeing with her judgments of this man they’ve never met.

Yet, I do as I’m told, head down, earphones in, mouth shut, hiding my own regret.

All I think is “why say anything?” Why get myself in trouble over the pain of judgment of another man?

Then it hits me. That in itself is the reason. That man is just like me, a person, with a life, with a plan.

How can we expect there to be peace and success, if all we do is care only about ourselves, how much we make, and how we dress?

I make my mom stop the car, ignoring the yelling behind me as I get out and give the man the 20 in my wallet.

I smile as I see his face light up, then cry as he buys a meal then within seconds eats all of it.

What happened to the MLK’s, the revolutionaries fighting for the best of all people? Why had no one else stood up for the principles in morality once thought so simple?

We are told now to talk less, smile more, focus on our own successes.

No. I stand above the lack for our love of people and morality regresses.

I stand as a person done with food insecurity. Done with people walking 90 miles to drink water that is dirty.

Done with children looking at shoes with holes and same clothes worn for days. Asking what they did to deserve this, wishing for death, thinking life as an overcomplicated maze.

I'm sick of doctors and people looking at suicide and depression within their own children. As methods of gaining attention, and that who they like to kiss as being more sick  and worth more of a mention.

I'm done with people being judged by numbers like 4.0

These digits deciding for you if you're a success or a failure unable to grow.

All the schools ignoring the bullying or traumas causing our digits to go down. And instead ignoring us as lower class, giving those with higher numbers the crown.

These issues are not something that can be fixed overnight, such as you cannot make a flower grow immediately by putting it up to a light.

Yet, luckily for us the answer is fixable, not only that but the answer is simple.

If you see someone in need for once put your own success aside.

Instead give them help, trying to understand how they feel inside.

If someone is sitting, gloomy and alone.

Go up and say hi, as a friend, not with an annoyed tone.

Be the revolutionary that is needed.

Stand up in peoples defense not only your own.

Help the child in rags on the street that you see

Don't leave them crying hungry and alone.

So. How do I stand?

I am a person.

I stand for forgiveness.

I stand for support.

I stand for helpfulness.

I stand for the futures morality.

But, more importantly,

What do you stand for?
