what do you want with the stars anyway

your soles hit the pavement

you're running and searching

for an alternate arrangement

you've got piles and files

of missing information

can you run from your mistakes

or another twist of fate

when you've got your

head in the clouds

but your feet on the ground

orange and yellow lights

will visit you tonight

so deny your present

and you'll understand

past,

future,

the cracks left inbetween

do not scream for help

it was never coming

kill your conscience

let your mind run free

we're here to save you, of course
from some external force
whatever you do now
don't ask any questions
you think that we have
all the answers
but you don't understand
the first thing about deception

and there
he looks at you
looks at your eyes
you feel like telling him
to drop his disguise
but your breath is coming shorter now
his voice bellows loud
within the void
and you hear the truth about yourself
spelled outright

I don't know you
but I know your work
I know exactly what you're worth
and what you're looking for

I know that you drowned

a while ago

looking for answers

at the bottom of a pond
