What does it mean to write a poem as a man?

what does it mean

to write a poem as a man?

i cannot write about the body of a woman

because i have one, and it is not

the oasis that floods your mind

and fuels your pen, my friend

i cannot write about the curves that

i know so well, and no one writes

about how those curves

can turn to porcelain

when they feel too big for

bones that are supposed to be of glass

you write about her mind, as well

but i have one, and i can barely

escape the race of my own tumid heart

against my wild, wicked brain--

but whenever i think my song can

sing what i'd always thought was

yours, you are startled, because

your spirit

can align

with a woman--

forgetting that when bodies crash together

there are no shards, just breath

to pick up from the shambles of the

glassy, porcelain night

neither one to break
