What Grandpa Taught Me
Although my grandpa has passed, I remember one thing he used to tell me,
He always knew my dreams were bigger than I would be.
Grandpa told me "Ain't no mountain high enough," just like the Marvin Gaye song,
By this he meant, "follow your dreams," and reminded me to be strong.
He told me, "you will face obstacles," time and time again,
But when you are worried, there is no need to hurry, just pray, for God is your friend.
This has been my motto since the moment I could walk,
And even though he is gone, it is through God that we are able to talk.
Talk about my day and all of the things that I learned,
Talk about my future and how my success will be earned.
I know the idea he planted in my head is there to stay,
And that is how I know that everything will be okay.
