What is the Great Perhaps?

It's the giant maybe.
What could be- what might happen.
It is that exact moment when you are standing tiptoe on the edge of a cliff
eyes closed
arms outstretched
ready to fall.
It is also the feeling that consumes you,
fills the body with pulse-quickening adrenaline
When looking down on those enormous acres of possibility
But, one could also say
that it is like a state of mind,
living on the edge of Perhaps all the time
And then things happen as the result of you living perhapsfully
And you either hurtle off the cliff into fluffy pillows, barbed wire,
or some ambiguous mixture of both.
But such is the unfortunate nature
of this blue ball floating in a vacuum that we call home
that often Perhaps will bring you to
ambiguity, not the solid
comfort of a black-and-white outcome
then you go can looking for the next Perhaps
or just be boring and stay put
But I don't think people can achieve
worthwhile existences
unless they are willing to
jump
