WHAT HAS POETRY NOT TAUGHT ME?
"What has poetry taught me?"
To which I reply,
"What has poetry not taught me?"
It has shown me how to rhyme
and how my hurt will end with time,
It has shown me how not to rhyme
and how my ideas can go above and beyond.
As free is Free verse poetry,
my ideas are also free-
They are not confined to one pattern,
yet they still have a loose organization.
Ideas and imaginations do not fit poetry,
Poetry fits them.
This is what poetry has taught me-
To be free rather than to conform.
