What This Has Shown Me
I've been a strange case for a long time, but...
Sometimes when I rhyme, it sends me back to a time
When I wasn't afraid to be me.
When I was full of curiosity, and when stars were more than what made up the galaxy.
It never comes from the pen, it comes from me.
From MY mind, where nothing's locked in, it's all free
To be whatever it wants to be.
We all try to push down our hate, fear, anger, anxiety, ask "why me?"
We don't know. We may never know.
Then when I write...it shows me what I don't know, maybe even what I used to know.
I might have to take it slow, but...I don't ever have to.
That's the beauty of it all.
That if I fall, if I hit a wall, I can get up and go again...
Like nothing's wrong.
But isn't it wrong?
Poetry doesn't have to mean everything is okay. Not today, not ever.
And that is okay.
We've all wondered if we'd always be alone, if our happy covers would be blown,
But what poetry has shown me is that...it's alright to let yourself go.
Something wrong with this poem?
