what he saw

he fell in love with what he saw -

he didn't know it wasn't who he thought.

he fell in love with the filter

he fell in love with the makeup

he fell in love with the perfection.

when she said her vows

she was covered and beautiful

that is what he saw.

when it was final and they were alone

she removed the cover

and he ran.

he hadn't known her.

no one had known her.
