What is heard from those

What is heard from those who can't speak?

What is seen from those who can't see?

Their lips don't work

Their ears don't hear

They need someone else

Someone who can communicate

Understand

Listen

A soft hand to feed

gentle fingers to touch

a mouth to speak

and eyes to see

A human.

Those who can't communicate, listen, conform.

Those who stand on their own.

They have a beauty of their own.

Mouths for a quiet meal.

Fur for a gentle touch.

Legs for chasing, bouning, and bounding

Tails for excitement

Hearts for love.

A home is different.

How does one find a home?

How does one enter a home?

They need help and it's up to us.

We speak for them

We listen for them

We love for them

They need someone to care

To brush

To bathe

To curl up with

This is why shelters are important

They are the string attaching humanity

to man's best friend.

To own one,

to save lives

of not only fur,

but skin too.

My dream is to love.

My goal is to open my own place

Full of warm beds

and open arms

and endless walks

and, of course, treats.

A safe haven

for those who need it most.
