What is Home

Something we search for, the one thing we can’t seem to live without

The feeling of being safe, complete, whole

The thought that this is a place, a being

What is home?

It’s what we want to take with us,

What we never want to leave

But it also seems to be something we can never find with any sort of ease

People cannot fill the entirety of the void,

Places come and go

Memories touch this part we feel aching and empty

But our realities tell us we cannot go back, not again.

What is it then?

Where do I find the only thing I long to keep with me

The sense of wholeness for which I search the ends of the earth?

What to take and keep with me was the understanding this home I wanted never left me.

The one thing I wanted, searched for, begged for

When I realized “home” was never to be found here,

I had searched for something I already had, unknowingly.

My Faith, my hope and my home were all one thing.

What I take and carry with me.

This is what was and is, what will always be

My God.
