What I am

What I am I am not perfect, I do not receive the highest test scores, I do not have the same intellectual capacity as others in my class. I am different, I work backwards mastering tiny puzzles one at a time in a strange systematic sort of way. I am the beat to my own drum, living through the smooth dark skin on the surface, taking life one day at a time, gently breezing through the experiences that shape me to be what I am. I am an extravagant nurturer of children. I form a bond with a child almost within 15 minutes of gazing into their eyes and smiling at the soul that should blossom one day. The endless hours of laughter and joy can only be rewarded with the beautiful sight of a child falling asleep in my arms. the gentle looks and touches a child brings, opens my heart to an innocence that cannot be deterred. Impacting children day by day would only bring happiness and joy to my state of being and bring my life to higher sense of enlightenment while I serve my time here on earth. I am an active listener of Beyonce, so much that it consumes my life life without my consent. She fills me with such passion, I can only reiterate by dancing wildly in my room by myself. Her words of wisdom developed me to believe in the power of feminism and reach out to the less fortunate. I am a fighter for those who cannot win battles on their own. For my mother, I am the fighter that helped her battle uterine cancer at the age of 37 (well more like a sidekick) For my father I am a fighter in keeping unhealthy food from being ingested as he battles with diabetes and partly for myself as i endured the constant pain of a ruptured appendix for three gruesome days. I am a passionate player of volleyball. My life is almost purely consumed by a sport that draws blood, sweat and tears. Through this beautiful sport I have learned to express and love myself as a human being and learned to accept the fact that I am different from everyone. So though I might not be a gifted genius, I am willing to devote my mind and soul to something I am passionate about, something that begins the drive to start my success. I am the living breathing image of a strong black woman and with this, I ask for your consideration for acceptance.
