what I am
I guess I never
Realized what it meant
When people told me that I
Didn't know how to relax
Until the time my therapist said
"Wow you do quite a lot, don't you?"
And I looked at her, novelty blooming
On my face like a flower drinking in the sun
For the very first time.
Yes I thought. I can't stand the stand still
Of time, the wiling away of moments.
I don't like emptiness and the unknown.
Its like walking into the pitch of the night
Arms outstretched in front, unsure what lays
In wait for you to brusb against it, your breath
Held in fear, your eyes searching and the dark
Creeping in like blinders on a horse.
I looked at my therapist in new knowledge
That I knew nothing of myself until provided
A mirror, a mirror of what I am.
