What I am, and we will be
If there is one word that falls into the human vocabulary with astounding frequency that is one letter, one syllable, and one sound… that word is “I “…
If I were an old lady, I’d have ten thousand cats. I would love them to bits and pieces and dress them in funny hats. If I were a boy I’d be the star quarterback and make up for all the “macho-ness” that I lack. If I were a bird I’d sings songs and fly high, and then go anywhere and not have to be asked “why?”. If I wrote a song it would be hip-hop funky fresh, but also with a jazzy mesh. If I were a soldier I would fight long and hard, then keep my head up high and look forward.
If I had a penny I would make it shine. Then I would tell the whole wide world that “This penny is mine!” If I were a friend I’d stick to very close to their side, and know that I would always have a safe place to hide. If I were Facebook I would surely delete it, because it’s overly dramatic and the world doesn’t need it. If I were Father Time I would change him to a mother, and then I would heal the pain of a lost brother. If I were a flower I would bloom four months before time, and then shine brighter than a light called lime.
If I could sing like the Beatles I would make a hit song, and give back to all the people who are treated wrong. If I were the ocean I’d scream “STOP WASTING ME AWAY!!!” and of course, be a safe place for the fishies to play. If I were a skyscraper I’d be yelling “SCREW YOU NATURE!!!!”No, I’m kidding I’m not that immature. If I were a color I would be transparent, in order to be something that is beautifully coherent.
But, what if all these “I’s” were a “we’s”? Would that change all these statements fundamentally?
Would the meaning of these dictations fade away? Would they fall into a category of disarray? Or would they change the world into something amazingly bright? A world diverse with endless might…
This is the kind of thinking that there should be; Collective individualism to create a joined diversity.
