What I Am to Me

When I see myself,

When I hear myself,

When I think to myself,

I know myself.

I am torn in the middle

As I look in the mirror,

Trying to determine what I think of my body,

But the world just sees my false confidence.

I am an emotional mess

Who cares and cries too much.

I battle depression,

But the world just sees my mask.

I am learning to be a math teacher

Who thinks through the equations.

I work through the stress,

But the world just sees my effort.

I am me

Because of all the good and the bad.

I am me

Because there is no one else I would rather be.
