What I Am Not

I am a complicated,

Tense ball of stress.

I walk around and see

People around me, chained to their

Misgivings and hope.

But I want that, too.

I have been blind

For so long,

The spider weaves its

Nasty strings around my

Feet.

I used to fly with my brothers

and Sisters. Now I am painting

Scenes of what will never be. I am

a Mover, a Nomad, a Gypsy.

I will change like the tides of the oceans,

making marks on the beach. I am

a tired old man, closing his eyes at

Night and dreaming of equations.

I am the rock you cannot

Get out of your shoe. I am

fire, burning bright in

words and letters. What

do they all mean?

They are who I am and I am

who they are: a koi fish swimming

in a pond of water.
