What I Can Be
I have been made fun of
I was told to “suck it up, they’re just kids”
I stopped looking at what they SAW, and started focusing on WHO I AM
I stopped worrying and started LIVING
I stopped crying and started smiling
I stopped caring about others and started caring for myself
I stopped telling myself that I was ugly every day
And started telling myself I was beautiful EVERY MINUTE
I am not worthless
I am not perfect
I don’t give a DAMN what anyone has to say
I will buy nice clothes to feel like I am the BEST
I will put on makeup, to impress MYSELF
I am more than an overweight girl with good grades
I am more than a “black face” with “fake hair”
I am more than what people expect
I was told that “people don’t reject you; they simply aren’t ready for what you can give”
The WORLD simply isn’t ready for what I can be
