What I Didn't Know
Fog creeps onto the horizon
Blind fingers pull triggers
Bullets shower pained hatred
The soldier does not know
The other
Who exists opposite
Of her blind fingers
Fog creeps onto the ground
Automatic feet march forward
Shells rain eternal darkness
The soldier does not know
The glory
Which exists not
In death by blind fingers
Fog creeps in the trenches
Bloody hands swing sightless
Tanks storm red seas
The soldier does not know
The fear
That exists cajoling
To whisper in her ear
Fog creeps up his leg
Living eyes misting red
Breathing throats tighten
Like a broken winged bird
That cannot fly
She will die
The soldier did not know.
