What I Have Learned. What I will do.
Dear Where I Am Headed,
Last year.
Two thousand and seventeen years from the start of… something. Two thousand and seventeen years people have been productive in innovation and new discoveries. Two thousand and seventeen years of hard working humans.
Time went by and things got greater… more incredible things, bigger than anybody could imagine, were proven to be existent. Theories were drawn up , hypotheses proved, life created over and over again, life discovered in more places than the comfort of human knowledge.
To this I say, “What is my part?”
I want all of these wonderful things in life. I want all of my aspirations to come true and bring me great joy. I want this, I want that… But what have I been doing other that sitting on my tailbone wishing for things to happen?
Nothing.
I have done nothing.
A wise man once told me that I can’t just want my dreams to come true… That will get me absolutely nowhere, other than a fantasy land. He said, I must work to achieve my dreams. I must not sit and keep begging, “please.” I must get up and seize the day!
I dream of Yale. I research Yale. I imagine Yale… But I don’t work for Yale.
I dream of a strong future career. I research my options… But I don’t set myself up to achieve that.
I am different this year. 2018 is a season of growth for me. I will apply myself and work for my dreams. I’ll reach for the stars, and I will achieve them because I was not simply wishing. I still dream big. My dreams are just as big as ever.
But who ever said that big dreams are bad?
Nobody wise would have.
Big dreams are hard to reach, not bad.
Big dreams are crazy and sometimes feel unattainable, but they are not bad.
Big dreams are made of you.
My big dreams are made up of pieces of me.
Those pieces of me are waiting to be put together for the final show.
The pieces that will shape my life path forever.
So this year has already molded me. It has made me open my eyes to truly see. I see the love and support around me… the encouragement… the dreams.
I now know that all of my dreams can come true…
Passion will drive my hard work and effort to make the new 2018 version of me ready to keep dreaming and achieving for the rest of my life.
So here’s to two thousand and eighteen years of knowledge and perseverance. Two thousand and eighteen years of going from something… to everything.
Sincerely, Where I Came From
