What I Know to be True

What to write, what to write I don’t want to sleep I don’t want to say good night But instead write words so incredibly deep That makes the reader weep. I want to say something from the heart But I am a mess and don’t know where to start. I want something elegant and true, Something that means as much to me As it does to you And visa versa you see, So I’ve quite a task in front of me. Let me tell you something that you may not have heard before, You are beautiful, loved, and adored And I couldn’t care less What other people may say Because I myself am a mess And am just learning to accept it all in some way. And though I have never met you face to face I mean every word of what I wrote And I wouldn’t put anything in its place. For you are you, and that’s not BAD, For you’re the only one the world will ever get And it’s not ready to let you go yet. YOU are important and YOU are needed And tell me if it needs to be repeated For I will tell you in a thousand different ways Even if it takes me the rest of my days Because you are worth my time, you are worth it to me, I only wish you could see Yourself through my eyes, Because I don’t care about your disguise Or the mask you put on. I just want who you really are, The messy one who wakes at dawn With every single scar. Because like I said, the world only gets one of you And someone out there loves you as much as I do. So keep holding in there, have hope, endure For I know one thing, this I am sure; YOU are good enough, you are lovely and bold So please don’t let the world make you cold And though you may hate every bit of yourself As I hate every bit of mine, Believe me, those cruel thoughts, they’re not true. Not even a little. Because you, you’re wonderful and I’m glad you’re alive And believe me when I say this; you deserve to survive. 6-21-15
