What I Need To Know

We are born into this world without knowledge, and depend upon everyone around us to teach us what we need to know. When I spent too much time with the girls on the playground and all the boys excluded me, you taught me how to calculate the distance across the pond. When I dance to Beyonce and sang Alicia Keys and everyone said to me with poison on their tongues,"That is for girls", you taught me how long it would take an object to fall and hit the ground. When I was having trouble discovering who I was and why I was feeling a certain ways about the boys in my class and why the world hated me.... you taught me how long it would take Tommy to save up 330 dollars if he got paid 3 dollars for every newspaper he delivered, and deliverd 50 newspapers a day for one day a week. WHO THE F--- IS TOMMY? That's not what I needed to know. I needed to know how to be strong, how to survive in life. I needed to know how to stay sane in an insane world. I needed to know who I am and why I was put on this Earth. You were supposed to teach me what I needed to know.....
