What I Never Said
You are a monster
I hope you know
Because I will never have
The courage to tell you to your face.
The way you look at other women
And do not care that she sees.
The way you insult her left and right
Yet do not bother with remorse.
The way you push her and hurt her
Because you need to feel powerful.
The way you ignore the fact
That she is the only one who has ever truly loved you
Because you harm those who love you.
And the fact that you show me the true you
And act the way you do
Without caring that you are my father
The one who is supposed to protect me
From the world
But I guess it makes sense
Because the only one I really need protecting from
Is you.
I can take on the world
But not because I am your daughter
And you raised me right
No.
But because you have shown me that the world
Does not want you to prosper
Which has only made me more determined
To be unafraid
In my journey to see the beauty in the world.
So I will hide my scars
And my tears.
I will pull myself up by my bootstraps.
I will ignore the pain
The trauma
The heartache
The worthless feeling
The sadness
Which you have forced upon me
And instead, I will prove you wrong
For I am worth something.
Everyone is
And it is not for you to say what someone is
And is not
But I will say what I am and am not
And I will be
Remarkable
Empathetic
Strong
Independent
Lionhearted
Enthusiastic
Naturalistic
Trustworthy
And totally
And utterly
ME
Just me
If one can say
Just light
And
Just hope
And
Just a change in the world
The world
That needs a change so badly.
I will remember my past
And I will remember you
father
But
I
Will
Never
Let you hold me back
Or let you hurt me
Again
Because
Every
Single
Time
I fall,
I get up stronger
And brighter.
Yes, I am broken
But yet I am unbreakable
And we must all be a little broken
For how else how would the light get in?
Thank you dear old dad
For showing me the very worst of the world
So now I can run towards the unknown
And find everything else
Which is no doubt greater than all you have shown me.
I will never be trampled again.
My only
Wish
Is that my mother would leave you
However,
I know that is the last thing she would ever do
And so I will leave you
And never look back
But I will pray every day for her
The woman
So kind the monster could not break her.
