What I Owe

I owe everything I am, to my parents and my close friends

They have made me who I am today

Everything I love, everything I do, everything I value, can be traced back to someone close to me

Encouragement from them is what made me pursue my interests

Soccer, drawing, 4-H, academics, school clubs, dance, karate, school plays

I owe my thanks to them because they have introduced my to everything I’m passionate about

Everything I do, started with someone who believed I could do something great

Sometimes I don’t even think I can do great things, but they told me I was wrong

When I got close to falling apart, they put all my pieces back together

They always have my back, and when I fall, they will help me back up

Everything I know about how to treat people was once observed

Kindness, generosity, empathy, politeness, honesty, sympathy, respect

Being able to make close friends taught me how a good friend treats others

Growing up, my parents taught me how to treat everyone with kindness

I value an honest person, who is kind to others. My parents taught me that.

I value being supportive and kind to my friends. My really close friends taught me that that is what is most important in a friend.

I am who I am because I have taken bits and pieces of all of my friend’s, family’s, and mentor’s personalities, quirks, hobbies, likes, and values and incorporated them into who I want to become.

They have made me who I am today, and so, I owe them everything.
