What I So Desperately Needed

you are the medicine

i had been searching for

the only drug

that did not demand ejection

upon arrival in my body

you are the cure

doctors denied time and time again

due to tests proving

failure between our two units

the world was against us

and no one thought it could work

yet

when i doused my veins

in your antibodies

when the doctors turned their backs

i did not emerge

frail and debilitated

like results had predicted

i emerged strong and steady

more whole than ever before

i emerged with fuel in my body

ready to brave the world

with a healing superman

in my midst
